5 Window Types and Styles to Consider When Upgrading Your Home

Replacement windows are one of the best investments you can make on a home. You will recoup most of your costs if you sell the home and new windows make your house more energy-efficient. In addition, replacement windows always offer a nice aesthetic upgrade to a house. Here are 5 window types and styles to think about when the time arrives to replace them.

1. Double-Hung Windows

This classic design is incredibly popular with folks upgrading their homes. They have an upper and lower sash, and both of them can be opened to create an energy-efficient flow of fresh air. The fact that they open inward allows you to clean them from inside, which is an added bonus!

2. Single-Hung Windows

These look the same as the double-hung model, but only the lower sash opens on a single-hung window. The sash pivots toward the inside of the home for ease of cleaning as well.

3. Picture Windows

This is a large fixed window (doesn't open) that provides a lot of light for a living room or family room. An additional benefit is that a picture window offers a wide, unobstructed view.

4. Casement Windows

These are another classic style of window that many homeowners appreciate. Casement windows are hinged on one side and pivot outward to open.

5. Accent Windows

An accent window can provide some variety in your home's aesthetic. These are fixed in place and decorative in nature. They come in rectangular, octagonal or other shapes.

Just want to thank you and your crew for the excellent job you did on my "sad" roof. It looks great & best of all, no leaks around the chimney. Bill was impressed with the post roof clean-up.
