On top of that, it also adds curb appeal to the exterior of your home. But when should you replace your siding? Below are some signs every home owner should look out for.

1. Loose, cracked or peeling siding

When you notice your siding has a chalky texture, chips or cracks, it is a sign that they need to be replaced. In fact, there might be an even bigger problem behind the panels such as mold or wood rot from water seeping. If it is a small section that is affected, you can make slight repairs. However, if there are large sections, it would be wise to have a professional assess the damage and handle the repairs.

2. Warping or rotting siding

This is an easy to spot sign. You should take some time and visually inspect the siding of your home. If you see any of these signs, it may mean that there is some moisture penetrating through the panels. With a sharp object, poke the siding to check how hard or soft the material is. If it is rotting or it is too soft, it means it needs to be replaced immediately.

3. Seam separation

You need to replace your siding if you notice that seams between the siding boards are pulling apart. This can be due to improperly installed siding or siding that has aged. If they are not replaced, moisture and rain might seep in and cause larger damage.
